Leon Williams

Leon Williams, 64, who grew up in Columbia Heights and had been a member of St. Stephen’s since he was a teenager active in the church’s summer programs of the 1960s, died of cancer Wednesday, August 22. His remains will be buried in St. Stephen’s churchyard Thursday, September 6, following a funeral liturgy at the church at 11am. The service is to be preceded by a reception and wake at 10:30am and followed by a potluck repast. Those attending are asked to bring a dish for the repast. Williams was St. Stephen’s resident sexton in the late 1970s. Williams is survived by his sisters Claudette Williams and Barbara Thomas. Eleven other brothers and sisters predeceased him.

O God, whose mercies cannot be numbered: Accept our prayers on behalf of Leon and grant him entrance into the land of light and joy, in the fellowship of your saints; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
