St. Stephen's has a wide range of spiritual formation programs and smallgroups for adults. On this page you can find information about Aging Loved Ones Support Group, Arts Collaborative,Choir, First Friday Prayer, Forum, Out in Christ, Second Sunday Brunch, Threaders of Saint Brigid, and YASSI ( The Young Adults of St. Stephen & the Incarnation).

Aging Loved Ones Support Group
A group of parishioners meet monthly the third Wednesday of each month to share a meal and to talk about issues related to caring for aging loved ones--a safe place to talk about things that most people who don't have aging loved ones want to hear about. For more information, email the church office.

Arts Collaborative
The collaborative organizes art exhibits and events in the worship space. The Collaborative has mounted a number of exhibits in the church, sponsored a community sing with Dr. Ysaye Barnwell, and worked with the church Vestry and liturgy planning group to include the arts in our liturgy. Photos from past Arts Collaborative exhibits can be found here and on the Art's Collaborative's Picassa web page. Join the Arts Collaborative's email list here.

St. Stephen's resident theater company is the Lean & Hungry Theater, the only theater company in the Washington, DC metropolitan area dedicated to adapting works of Shakespeare and other classic playwrights as radio dramas. Learn more about Lean & Hungry on their website.

Choir
St. Stephen's has two choirs. The 10:30 service choir rehearses Thursday evenings; the Misa Alegria choir rehearses Monday evenings. Read more about the 10:30 service choir on our music page.

First Friday Prayer
Join us the first Friday of each month in the nave at 6:30 for contemplative practices. Each session usually involves yoga prayer and meditation around the altar. (No previous yoga experience is necessary, only a desire to explore or deepen prayer expression of the heart through postures of the body. All postures can be modified for any skill or physical ability, that each may prayer as inspired and able.) Each month's gathering focuses on a particular theme. For more information, email the church office.

Forum

Every Sunday (with the occasional exception), we gather at 9:15am in the church auditorium for our Sunday morning discussion series, Forum. Please come. Any Sunday. 9:15am. Prompt!

Loaves and Fishes
St. Stephen's hot meal program, which serves anyone in need Saturdays, Sundays, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Monday holidays, seeks volunteers to help prepare and serve meals and to help with administrative functions such as fundraising, publishing newsletters, scheduling, and serving on the board.

Out in Christ
Out in Christ provides a welcoming environment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Christians and their supporters and friends to explore their place in the Church, enrich their spiritual lives and minister to one another and the larger community. To find out more, join the Out In Christ mailing list.

Second Sunday Brunch Discussion Group
A group of parishioners departs St. Stephen's after the 10:30 service every second Sunday of the month for brunch and a discussion about faith. All are welcome.

The Threaders of St. Brigid
The Threaders, a group of parishioners and friends, meet every Monday evening to knit prayer shawls, pray together, and build community. Their prayer shawls have been given to people in the parish and outside of the parish who are ill. St. Brigid's welcomes new and experienced knittters, and those who want to learn. For more information, email the church office.

Young Adults of St. Stephen & the Incarnation (YASSI)
YASSI members have brunch after the 10:30am service a few times per month and join together for evening activities from time to time. To find out more, join the Young Adults email list.
