Domini Est Terra
Photograph Exhibition October 2006

St. Stephen's Arts Collaborative planned three exhibits for the Fall of 2006. The first: an exhibition of photographic portraits entitled Domini Est Terra ("The earth is the Lord's").

Four gifted photographers-all members of the parish community-came together to witness to the beauty of the pinnacle of God's creative power and the strength and dignity of the human person.

The title of the show comes from the opening line of Psalm 24: "The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it, the world and all who dwell therein." Like the psalmist, these artists celebrate humanity's search for truth and integrity, from the eager hope of young African boy to the quiet wisdom on the face of an elderly Afghan man. Seen together, these works recognition that God's saving power reaches to the ends of the earth. The show also witnesses to the deep (and sometimes hidden) talent of our parish community.
